Feature band on Sunday, October 2 – James Biehn Band! James Biehn got his first taste of music at the age of 10 playing trumpet. He picked up a guitar shortly after and by the age of 13 was a featured soloist in his school jazz band. James became proficient in music theory, jazz keyboard and big band/vocal arranging while attending Southwestern Community College. For two years running he was the regional winner in Guitar Center’s King of the Blues guitar competition and he has opened for countless national touring bands such as Blues Traveler, Sonny Landreth, Gov’t Mule and Big Head Todd. James owns and operates Central Iowa Music Lab, a music lesson studio in Des Moines with 9 instructors and over 200 students. Learn more about the Central Iowa Music Lab!
The Des Moines Water Works Park Foundation would like to invite you to enjoy our weekly Sunday Fall event – Local Bands, Brews and Bikes. Listen to local bands and enjoy a brew from the Des Moines Biergarten, a pop-up beer garden serving up German-style beers and craft beers Thursdays through Sundays until the end of October. Easily accessible by bike trails, this family (and pet!) friendly weekly event will run through the end of October.
