Recreation
Whether you are looking for trails to explore or a quiet place to enjoy nature close to the city, you’re sure to find it here.
We Invite You To Explore The Park!
As one of America’s largest urban parks, we invite you to explore 1,500 acres of riverside woodland at Water Works Park. Hugging the Raccoon River west of Gray’s Lake in Des Moines, Iowa, Water Works Park is an outdoor oasis in the heart of the city.
The Des Moines Water Works Park Foundation improves the quality of life for Central Iowan’s by enhancing Water Works Park. The Foundation, formed in November 2013, is a non-profit organization integrating education, conservation, and recreation to connect visitors to clean water.
